Glycolic Acid: is generally used as a natural skin exfoliant and moisturizer, although there is much debate over its safety and effectiveness. Glycolic Acid is from Natural fruit acids (alpha hydroxy acids or AHAs) to rejuvenate the skin by encouraging the shedding of old, sun-damaged surface skin cells. Glycolic Acids work by stimulating new growth of skin and collagen by decreasing the bond that holds dead skin cells on the surface. This allows dead cells to be removed gradually, leaving behind a layer of smoother and softer skin. People can use glycolic acid products for a variety of reasons relating to anti-aging – to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and to make the skin look smoother, tighter and younger looking overall.
Glycolic acid is also found in many acne treatments. By removing that top layer of skin, the newer (healthier) skin below the acne layer can be revealed, resulting in less oily and acne-prone skin. Glycolic acid can be found in over-the-counter facial cleansers and treatment creams and in chemical peels applied by dermatologists. There are countless products that are available on the market to help with skin treatment to make you look younger, and reverse the signs of aging. One such product, glycolic acid, is used to treat the skin as it is able to help the skin.
Aloe Vera: is a cactus-like plant growing in the warmer climates of the world and are described as succulents. Aloe vera is a very popular herbal remedy. The Aloe vera plant (also called Aloe barbadensis) is unique among plants for its importance in natural skin care. Aloe vera has been used for thousands of years by the Egyptians, Romans, Greeks, Arabs, Indians and Chinese to decrease the appearance of scars and to moisturize and heal skin.
Green Tea: is made from the dried leaves of Camellia sinensis , a perennial evergreen shrub. Green tea has a long history of use, dating back to China approximately 5,000 years ago. Green tea, black tea, and oolong tea are all derived from the same plant.
Licorice Root: is grown in Greece, Turkey, and Asia. Licorice contains a compound called glycyrrhizin (or glycyrrhizic acid). Licorice has a long history of medicinal use in both Eastern and Western systems of medicine. Some of its' properties include Anti-allergic, anti-arthritic, anti-inflammatory, demulcent, emollient, estrogenic (mild), expectorant, laxative, pectoral (moderate), soothing. Liquiritin, a licorice extract, is used as treatment for a skin pigmentation disorder called melasma. Licorice root contains many anti-depressant compounds and is an excellent alternative to St. John's Wort. As a herbal medicine it has an impressive list of well documented uses and is probably one of the most over-looked of all herbal wonders. Licorice root extract and acne fighting products containing licorice root are widely available to consumers in today’s market. Your local pharmacy or health food store are both great sources of information on all types of natural acne fighting extracts.
